MoodMargins

Privacy policy

Effective date: October 14, 2026

Your journal

MoodMargins is a personal mood journal developed by Gerard Gomez. You can save moods, notes, tags, and related journal details without creating a MoodMargins account. Journal content is stored on your device. When iCloud is available and enabled for MoodMargins, the main app uses Apple’s CloudKit to sync journal data through your private iCloud account. Starting with the 1.1 release, moods and notes saved on Apple Watch also sync with the main app through your private iCloud account when iCloud is available and enabled for MoodMargins. Earlier Watch versions keep their journal only on the Watch. The developer does not operate a server that receives your journal.

Apple Intelligence and your choices

AI tag suggestions and recaps are optional Plus features. When enabled, the app tries Apple’s Private Cloud Compute first, sending the content needed for the request to Apple’s service. If a cloud request fails, it retries once using the on-device model. Turn off Use Private Cloud Compute in Customize to process AI requests only on your device. Tag requests include the draft note and selected tags; recap requests include mood and date information, tags and activities, and short note excerpts of up to 140 characters from pages in the selected period. AI features require Apple Intelligence readiness. Private Cloud Compute also requires internet access, Apple access approval, and available usage capacity. Selecting the on-device model avoids sending AI requests to Private Cloud Compute.

Generated content

Tag suggestions and generated recaps are held temporarily in the app rather than saved as a separate AI history. A suggestion becomes part of your saved journal when you select it; the page then saves automatically. Recaps are not medical advice or a diagnosis. Apple’s privacy protections and terms apply to Apple Intelligence, Private Cloud Compute, and iCloud.

Purchases

Apple processes payments for auto-renewing weekly, monthly, and yearly Plus subscriptions and permanent, non-consumable theme purchases. MoodMargins reads verified StoreKit product and transaction information to provide, restore, and update access. The developer does not receive your payment card details. Canceling a subscription does not delete journal pages or themes purchased separately. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings.

Preferences and notifications

The app stores preferences such as your theme, model choice, and onboarding state on your device. Where you use reminders, notification permissions are controlled by your device settings. Journal content is not used for advertising or sold.

App recommendations

The Customize screen can show a Kickstart Exchange banner when you do not have an active Plus subscription. Exchange recommends other apps without using your journal, tracking users or devices, or building behavioral profiles. It receives app-level details such as the bundle identifier, platform, app and build versions, SDK version, and App Store country, and records ad delivery, impressions, clicks, and reports. This information helps deliver and measure ads, promote participating apps, produce app-level analytics, and operate the service. These records are not linked to your identity or used for tracking. In shipping builds, it temporarily processes a locally verified Apple-signed App Transaction to verify the app installation, then discards that signed data without retaining or using its user or device values. Individual ad records are kept for approximately 30 days; aggregate app-level statistics may be retained longer. Its network provider processes IP addresses to deliver requests, but Exchange does not store them or use them to identify you. See the Kickstart Exchange privacy notice at https://exchange.kickstart.tools/privacy for full details.

Feedback and ideas

The optional Feedback & ideas board uses Kickstart Signal. It receives the feature requests, descriptions, comments, and votes you choose to submit, together with the app's bundle identifier and SDK version. The SDK creates a random installation identifier only when you first vote or submit a request or comment, to prevent duplicate votes and submissions; browsing does not create or send it. MoodMargins adds no separate identifier, does not automatically include journal content in feedback, and does not report your premium or subscription status to Signal. Signal does not use feedback for advertising, marketing, or tracking across apps. Requests and comments are private until reviewed by the developer and may be edited or published. Feedback and votes are retained while the board exists, unless removed by the developer; deleting the app does not remove submitted feedback. Signal temporarily processes Apple verification data and IP addresses to verify the app and prevent abuse; Apple verification data is then discarded. It also keeps app-level connection diagnostics, including the latest successful connection time, verification type, and SDK version; these are not a history of individual users or devices. See https://signal.kickstart.tools/privacy for full details.

Feedback privacy choices

Share feature ideas rather than private journal entries or sensitive personal information. To request a correction or deletion of feedback, contact transfinite@transfinite.us and identify your submission. Signal does not require a MoodMargins account or ask for your account name or email address. The developer may need details of the submission to locate it. Approved feedback may already have been viewed by other people.

Retention and deletion

Journal pages remain in the app until you delete them. Use the Pages screen to delete individual entries; deletions sync to iCloud when the service is available. Apple manages iCloud backups and their retention under your account settings. Deleting the app removes its local app data, but does not automatically cancel a subscription or guarantee deletion of cloud data or backups. Manage those separately in your Apple Account and iCloud settings.

Your privacy choices

You can view, edit, and delete your journal in the app, change the AI model choice, disable iCloud access through system settings, and manage notification permissions and subscriptions. The developer cannot retrieve private journal content stored only on your device or in your private iCloud account. If you contact the developer for help, the information you voluntarily provide is used to respond to your request; avoid sending private journal entries unless you intend to share them.

Scope and updates

This policy covers the MoodMargins app. Apple’s services have their own privacy policies. A website hosting this policy may have separate practices for cookies or analytics. Material changes to the app’s data practices will be reflected in an updated policy with a new effective date.
